30-March-2005:
Practice Today (Pro) version 05.04 is now available. New features: [Audio]
PTP can manage audio recordings of patient encounters. From
the patient record, or EMR screen, click the red microphone to begin
recording the encounter. Use PTP as normal. When you exit the patient
record or stop the recording, the resulting wave file is compressed
and cataloged. (Tablet PC users should consider using an external
microphone.) Second, we encourage you to purchase an 8-hour voice pen
recorder. There are several on the market. Place the pen in your
jacket pocket, turn it on, and forget about it. At the end of your
day, download the file into your PTP audio folder. All recordings can
be easily reviewed by selecting Audio from the patient menu, or
Explore from the Utility menu. Audio recording are akin to backups.
They are only valuable when you need them. Then, they are priceless.
Please consult your attorney prior to using this feature. [Dictation]
If your documentation is 'dictation' driven, then you can now
easily dictate directly into the patient's medical record. This will
save both money and time. Select the patient's medical record (right
click the appointment schedule). Add a new note and select a template.
For each template component, click the red microphone to start
recording, click the green microphone to stop. Your transctionist can
access all audio files by selecting [Medical | Dictation] from the
main menu. After an audio file has been transcribed, PTP will log the
transcription, count the characters, words, or lines, and produce a
Transcription Report. This report can be used for accurate payment.
The Infinity foot pedal has been integrated into PTP for profession
transcribers. Important note: At any time, you can access the
patient's medical note, click on the audio filename, and hear your
dictation. This is vital for proofing the transcription. Technical
note: PTP encodes all audio files into mp3 files using LAME. This is
done to save disk space. If you use Dragon Naturally Speaking, the
encoding will be done after PTP transcribes your dictation.
[Pt
Statements] You can now send patients their statements via email.
Encrypted, of course. When the patient receives the email, they enter
their password, and then their statement is displayed using Adobe
Reader. The password can be turned off within the statement for future
viewing. When batching statements, PTP can first prepare all
statements for patient with an email address and password, transmit
those statements, and then allow you to drop all remaining statements
to paper for snail mail. Please note that this utility requires
significant computing resources. It takes approximately 10 seconds per
patient, but that still beats a 37cent stamp (not to mention the human
resources required to make the statement mail-ready).
[Faxing
Prescriptions] You can fax prescriptions directly from the patient
record to the patient's pharmacy. A confidential cover sheet is
provided, or you can specify your own in FAX Setup.
[Faxing
Pt Medical Record] You can fax the patient's entire medical
record from within the EMR by selecting Print, and then click FAX. You
can select which components of the EMR would want to include. [Vitals]
PTP manages blood pressure for both right and left arms. You can
denote sitting, lying, or standing. [Shots
& Immunizations] PTP now includes a complete pediatric shot
record. [Treatment
Plans] Referral and Patient Education tabs have been added.
Treatment plans can be pulled into the medical note.
[Transactions] The APPLY screen has been enlarged to
show more transactions. You can now easily re-flag and remove
transactions. [Change of Address] PTP will maintain a
patient's history of address changes. [Medical Note] You can
select to automatically pull 'normal' when adding a new note. This
works well if you chart by exceptions. [FAX In-box] PTP can now
manage your electronic fax in-box. Select [Utilities | Fax In-box].
Each fax can be easily assigned to a patient's file. [Email Setup]
You can enter Outgoing SMTP Server setting by selecting [Utilities |
Other Setup Utilities | Email Setup]. Important note: You must have
docuPrinter Pro and SDK installed on your computer if you want to fax
or email documents from PTP. DocuPrinter products can be purchased from
www.neevia.com
